My favorite Shakespeare film is still this:

A great performance, but as an unregenerate Yorkist, I don’t believe a word of that Tudor agitprop that Shakespeare preserved for posterity. I think Richard III was the victim of the most successful campaign of character assassination in history—and really, the beginning of that craft, pursued so relentlessly today.
As for George R. R. Martin, I haven’t read anything of his since Dying of the Light, so I have no opinion on GoT.
