MUSLIMS’ FURY AS ARMY USES CUT-OUT MOSQUES ON BRITISH FIRING RANGE

ARMY chiefs were forced to apologise yesterday for using mosque-like buildings on a firing range used as vital preparation for combat in Afghanistan.

It is standard practice for the Army to try to replicate local conditions on training bases to prepare soldiers for fighting on foreign soil.

This resulted in one range, at Catterick in North Yorkshire, having a series of single-panel “buildings” painted to resemble Islam-inspired local architecture in Helmand province.

But Muslim groups are demanding they be ripped down because they believe they could be construed as mosques.
