Another example is rock music. Most of it, since the mid 60’s, has been informed to some extent by the American counterculture. (Even Ted Nugent before Beck brainwashed him.) Point is that one of America’s greatest contributions to world popular mainstream culture was, and still is, largely a musical expression of the nobler aspects of countercultural values.

And then there’s the sexual revolution. The US counterculture deserves at least a partial thumbs up there too—recognition for gays, women seen as sexual subjects and not merely objects, contraception and abortion rights. And of course porn.
