This does present the case, though, to those who were thinking that Trump would just silently slip away, that the GOP now has a mess on its hands with a hyper-polarizing figure.

Who on earth was thinking Trump would silently disappear? Among pundits, only the never-correct Bill Kristol would seem to be stupid enough to have believed this.
