I have to confess that a guilty pleasure of mine: reading anguished tweets from journalists (and other notables) about their flight mishaps. I also follow the big airline “assist” accounts, so I really get to see the various stages of grief in all of their glory. Jonathan Capehart is going through this right now if you want to see an example of what I mean.

There is a level of schadenfreude involved, but there is also the fact that deteriorating health keeps me from traveling as much as I once did…so it is good to be reminded the pitfalls of being on the road.

I am happy to report though that I am feeling positive enough about my ability to travel this year that I went ahead and purchased some inter-European flights today for a trip I am hoping to make in September. I had been procrastinating on doing so, but the recent exchange rate fluctuation meant I saved some money by dragging my feet!
