There’s already speculation about who Newsom would appoint if Harris becomes VP. Some talk of an old guard caretaker (like Jerry Brown) to serve out the last two years and then have an open seat in 2022 (when Harris’ term was set to expire anyway). Lot of talk about a Latino/a appointee as well.

I’m not too big a fan of the Jerry Brown idea, only because DiFi is still in office for another 4 years. Someone younger would be a better choice just by default.

Becerra might be a good fit for that. I think Porter should replace DiFi when she retires. Get some more time in the House before moving on to the Senate.
