re: #47 Dr Lizardo
The 1922 Committee, which governs the Conservative Party, is very likely to change the rules regarding that 12 months and allow for an internal no-confidence vote to be held pretty much immediately. It is certainly within their power to do so.
So Boris is not as safe as he might like to think he is. Thereās a strong possibility that the 1922 Committee will say enough is enough (might even happen today, LOL), make the rule change, and thatās that. Boris wouldnāt survive such a vote.
At that point, Boris would have to go nuclear: Call a general election. This would be his Sampson Option - he knows heās finished, but heās gonna take the entire Conservative Party down with him.
Yeah, Iāve seen comparisons of such a rule change to the 25A, that it would basically be the party admitting that Boris is no longer competent to remain in power and was forcibly removing it. It would not surprise me at all that, in the face of such a scenario, his response would to bring down the entire party in a fit of egotistical rage.
