It’s important to remember that these people expected to get ZERO CONSEQUENCES for their actions. They thought that what they were doing was legal; they thought they would get a pardon from President Trump if they were criming; they thought that the justice system wouldn’t punish them harshly because many of them are first-time offenders, white, and moderately affluent. While I am disappointed that the punishments as a whole aren’t more harsh, I also can’t complain as long as the punishments keep coming.
