Wow… they just had two more 4.5’s and then a 5.0 down in Haiti, on the fault line not far from the big one today.

It should be noted that poorly constructed buildings can be damaged by a 5.0. Even a better building, if it was partially damaged earlier in the day, could be a disaster with these smaller quakes.

According to the USGS, the fault in question is on the border of the NA and Caribbean plates… they are sliding by each other. The relative motion of the two plates is 20mm/yr, but the slippage on the fault has been measured to be only 13mm/yr, which would imply you’d get some really big earthquakes every once in a while.

It’s God’s doing, silly. He’s just angry that they’re nothing but depraved voodoo-loving sinners.
