Well, it was not just a moral victory, it was a result that increases our chances to make it out of the Group stage. The last (and only) time that happened was 80 years ago!

You see, that is a problem I have with league play over here. It is often in both teams’ interest to both get a goal each and then play out the rest of the game to a tie. I have seen matches where they all but stand on the ball to run out the clock.

naturally, England did not want to embarass themselves by playing out to a tie with the Yanks.

(And we would’ve won if the French Fleet had showed up in time…)
