the most concrete historical fact that we have about “jesus”, by far, is the existence of a collection of writings about him

as far as i’m concerned, the person who “speaks” in the gospels is, for all practical intents and purposes, “jesus”

the only question is whether there was one person who spoke these words or something very much like them in judea in the first century or whether the gospels are entirely fiction

my opinion is that the first explanation is the most economical, so that’s why i call occam’s razor on the more complicated theory about “jesus” as a complete fiction successfully perpetrated by a completely different person or persons
