Again, it is a common thing that a prophet is ascribed various sayings. Surely, some of what is contained in the gospels was said by Jesus (tho maybe it was distorted), but just as many legends stuck to Jesus, so must have many things he allegedly said but actually did not.
So if you’re looking for a person who “speaks” in the gospels, then such a Jesus likely did not exist.
obviously, any rational modern person cannot possibly believe that the story in the gospels is 100% history, especially considering that they sometimes contradict each other
so, it goes without saying that it is not clear what exactly in the gospels is historically accurate about the “real jesus”, assuming there was one
BUT
have you ever read two or three biographies about some person well accepted as a historical personage? like, say, hitler? or john lennon? or elvis? or steve jobs?
they don’t agree either
but yet we don’t dispute the existence of elvis
there is no absolute “history”
