Bigotry, xenophobia and outright racism is never far under the surface here in Europe.

I get the stinkeye from time to time because I don’t “look” Czech. People are trying to figure out where I’m from when they look at me - the most common guesses people have regarding me are German, maybe Swedish. Sometimes Russian as well, but not so often.
