Just to play devil’s advocate: We’ve got long-rang bombers and every other conceivable and inconceivable bit of hardware at bases that essentially surround Russia. Why isn’t turn about fair play?

But we no longer have someone as POTUS who has the force of character necessary to drop the hammer if/when needed. Any provocative action will receive only appeasement as payment.
