This is the part that always gets me:

I basically get on the radio each week and politely espouse a viewpoint that would have been considered to be perfectly acceptable and mainstream during the 1950s.

The fact is that there were a LOT of things considered acceptable or even mainstream in the 1950s (and 60s and 70s for that matter!) which have since come to be seen as totally repugnant by anyone with half a brain.
