while viewing the suspect on the surveillance camera provides a modest bit of comfort, it does not change the fact that but for the ineptitude of the would be bomber, many could have been killed and hurt. so we should not smugly feel that the “system worked,” because it really didn’t. same deal with the underwear bomber over Detroit. The system did not work. What did work was alert citizens (in the spirit of Todd “Let’s Roll” Beamer) saving the day. The “system,” whatever it may be, can probably never be expected to work 100% of the time.
