Jefferson’s support of the French Revolution was not his finest hour.

My understanding is he supported it when it started. And it would be tough to fault him. The Bourbon monarchy was as corrupt and incompetent as they come.

To my knowledge he did not support The Terror. It sickened him as much as it does us today.

And Napoleon is one of the few people Jefferson actually hated.
