What you’re missing is that Sergey is talking prophylactically, not in judgement after. He’s not saying “Why did you go out with him?” he’s saying “Don’t go out with him, please consider the danger”, if there is reason to believe he’s a rapist. He’s not saying “Why did you go to that party and leave your drink unattended?” he’s saying “If you go to a party, don’t leave your drink unattended, and bring a buddy.”

He’s not saying “And if you don’t do these things, you are more to blame, and whether or not you did them should be mitigating circumstances.

The problem is that most rapists don’t “seem like they could be a rapist”. Most seem like otherwise normal people or even exemplary citizens. This is where allegro’s point on “All men are rapists” comes into play. It pretty much seems to be saying that women need to treat all men as potential rapists until we, somehow, have proof otherwise.
