To be fair to Pence, he was signaling a refusal to try any quasi-Constitutional “remedies” to save his and his boss’s job for weeks. Yes, he’s a despicable human being, and yes, he absolutely deserves to have his political career flushed down the toilet, and yes, he may even be complicit in yesterday’s events, but I want the record to be clear on one thing: I don’t think there was ever a point at which Pence indicated, to Trump or to anyone else, that he gave any credence to the far-fetched nutters calling for him to play any of the Pence Cards they kept throwing out.
