Actually, I understand the concept and I think it’s a very good one, probably the most practical hybrid concept I’ve seen yet. The reason the 230 mpg rating is so bogus is because this vehicle doesn’t operate using standard parameters; it should be equivalent to 50 mpg (I did a little Googling, it’s a wonderful thing). The thing that bothers me, of course, is that it has to be charged at home… which costs money on the electric bill, which has its own set of environmental problems. Anyone buying this for environmental concerns is, sadly, extremely misled.

Good for you - the google thing. Yeah and the range on the battery is only 40 mi. - pretty weak. Exactly, this will do little for the environment. Hey did you know the cash for clunkers program requires the cars to be run with some silicon crap until the engines lock up? Yeah figure the cost to drain and dispose of fluids plus the energy cost to crush and haul the cars and that program is probably a net loss for the environment.
