Beshear: In Kentucky About a Third of Folks Getting Health Plans Are Under 35

I saw a headline on Yahoo, about a potential ‘Obamacare Death Spiral’, and unable to resist clicking on it, found that it was written by some clown from AEI. He was saying if healthy people don’t sign up, it’ll just be sick people, and it’ll be too expensive.

THAT is where we ALREADY were, but without any incentive for healthy people to sign up, except the possibility of pre-existing conditions.

BTW, if I hear ONE MORE idiot talking about young people being required to buy health insurance ‘they don’t really need’, I’m going to explode. Life insurance, fire and flood insurance, car insurance etc. are all things most people ‘don’t really need’.

I’ve had life insurance for 20 years, and haven’t died, so I didn’t “need” it.

I’ve used my car insurance twice in 35 years of owning cars. My wife hasn’t used hers at all, so we didn’t “need” it.

Our house has not been burgled, burned, or flooded, nor has anything large fallen on, or driven into it, so we didn’t “need” our homeowners insurance.

The same people who say, “You don’t need a gun, until you really, really need it” are trying to argue just the reverse about health insurance, and as a twofer, they will loudly denounce as irresponsible anyone who DOESN’T get health insurance, and then gets badly and expensively sick.

Tell me again why we should be civil to these people?
