Well, apparently the lawsuit deals with the four companies agreeing not to hire from the other companies and poach talent. That would let them keep certain people locked up in their jobs, depress the wages across the board, and limit where people could go to similar high performing companies.

Had it gone to trial, the companies stood to potentially lose $3 billion (or $9 billion in punitive damages), but the plaintiffs could have lost on appeal if the appellate level found that they shouldn’t have been certifiable as a class.
