Not anymore. China’s aircraft carrier, the former Varyag, will be operational next year, as I understand. They are already building advanced DDs. The good news is that our Arleigh Burke class is still a good bit better, so we’re increasing production of it. Our edge in destroyers has always relied on having large numbers of them, and we need large numbers for our world-wide responsibilities. We cannot wait for a new generation that’ll take ten years to be ready, we need to replace old equipment now. Already, we continue research into new UAVs, while still building and improving the current generation. That is the path we should take.
