Putin just wants chaos and fighting. The defining event of his life was the breakup of the Soviet Union, and as revenge, wants and expects the US to break up the same way. Thus all the crazy-ass Calexit and Texit nonsense on Facebook, sponsored by your buddies in Sankt Peterburg.

I don’t think Hawley or Cruz think there would actually be fighting. This is just the crassest pandering by opportunistic sociopaths without any regard for what could happen, and each one thinks he can be the next King of the Pig People by using it.
