Let’s pray for the sufferers in Haiti and resolve to do what we can to learn about their plight and advocate on their behalf. They are the poorest in our region and deserve a chance at hope and a decent life free of hunger and despair.

Let us also learn to value what we have and enjoy the bounty that makes hunger all but unknown in our societies, where even the poorest among us lives a life of plenty by comparison.
