One of the reasons I’d die if I had to do retail. Those people are bad enough when you’re stuck behind them in line!

This is the biggest “role” I have ever played in my life. You know me, sort of, from this blog. I see almost every moment, every minute of life as something oddly humorous or as a snark.

Can you imagine ME, having to stand behind a cash register, smiling and being playful with myriads of different kinds of people?

Of course you can’t. That’s why I have to look at each shift like a performance, “I’m your friendly grocer and I am glad you are here.’ Did you find every thing you are looking for… do you needs stamps… ice… wood pellets…. road kill…. Hi… no go ahead… I know, you have over 15 items but I won’t tell anyone… (pick up the phone, feign using the intercom)… security… we have a customer with over 15 items in lane 8… here’s your receipt… you don’t need the receipt… ok… (looks at receipt)… too bad, you were the winner of the Mystery Million… (after folding up a really long receipt)… here… give this to your lawyer and he will explain it all to you…”

And life goes on…
