My side is liberty too. I have simply lost faith in the ability of democracy to safeguard liberty. A reaction toward a little less democracy will restore some of those liberties, in my opinion.

Besides, a lot of policy is already set by unelected, permanent civil services. That’s a good thing! The problem is (1) it’s still subject to “political interference” (i.e., democracy used as designed) and (2) it’s a largely informal system, loosely attached to the executive branch, a (mostly) elected office.

If you like, you can send this through a translator and make it sound a bit more German (although I think Latin would be more appropriate, personally).
