I kicked around a story idea awhile back called “Jesus 2000” where basically, Jesus would actually come back to earth but no one would believe that it’s actually him and even though he starts doing miracles and what not, they think he’s some kind of demon or freak or whatever and he is eventually arrested and the plan is to subject him to scientific tests to determine who or what he actually is and of course politically there is much tension between Christians, Muslims and Jews over who this man actually is (and yes, this plot is meant to echo the New Testament concerns about Jesus).

I never came up with an ending though.

Just kill him off like the original did. Maybe a rightwing gun nut, have them shooting him on a New York street like John Lennon was.
