Indeed. I always find the argument about assigning gender to an allegedly omnipresent, incorporeal being to be more than a little odd.

A friend of mine often says “God is both male and female, and God is neither male nor female.” I think she’s correct. But English is not a language in which you can politely refer to the Creator as an ‘it’. Now in some languages you can dodge the gender question entirely.
