No, I had not. It doesn’t surprise me however. It’s been brutally cold the last few days (and tonight), and the ice is still a major problem in a lot of places. It’s so cold that the salt isn’t really effective as I understand it, plus it’s so bad that the plows / trucks were getting stuck.

I’ve seen more snow here before, but I’ve never seen such a bad stretch for so long. It rolled in Monday, and there are a lot of roads that are still impassable outside the main streets / highways.

Probably the one thing that helped was that the storm rolled in on Presidents day, and LOT of people were off work in the Nashville area, otherwise the highways would have been like Atlanta last year.

Yeah, salt is worthless in temps below about 20 or so, but will work if the sun heats the surface a bit. The worst thing about this weather in the south is the lack of the proper equipment to deal with it. At least up here in Ohio and other northern cities is we have crews that take keeping the roads as clear as they can seriously.
