Well, to be fair a person could be both mentally ill and a racist at the same time. But its also true that going right in with the issue of racism would leave CNN in a bad place in the unlikely event it turns out this wasn’t about racism. They’d then be accused of jumping to conclusions, or even of “lying to fit a liberal agenda”. Heck, they’d likely get those accusations even if they were proven right, just fewer of them.

From CNN’s perspective its smart to just avoid “that O-Word” for now.

Got news for you but there are people who will accuse them of lying to fit a liberal agenda regardless of what they do here.
