Quite often I get questions from people at gigs about how a guy like me ended up in that band. I’m going to start telling them that the band leader is my uncle. Can’t you see the resemlbence?!

The band leader in the band I was in was named Jesse Ray, and my nickname was “Monster” because this was the 70’s, and I had a synth, and that was cool then, and I made all sort of funky “noises” with it…

In clubs where the clientele hadn’t seen me before, he would start the night with this… “Some of you may have noticed that there is a white guy in this room, for a matter… he’s right here on stage.. we call him Monster because he’s a monster of a keyboard player. If anyone has any thought of messing with Monster, you are going to have to get pass me first.”

Gee… that was comforting! Jesse played bass and he was built like a linebacker from the Dallas Cowboys.
