We have a Jehovah Witness church pretty close by and they come around knocking on doors. Lot of Haitian followers. I don’t generally answer the door, but they’ve been polite when I have. My friend once promised to take me to her gospel church. We never managed it, but I always thought the music looked like a lot of fun.

The music is some of the best in the world.

Lol “Gospel Choir” was a big see-and-be-seen thing on my undergrad campus, many years ago. Somebody looked around and saw all these white children in Gospel Choir, and the eyebrow-raising ensued (the U. was overwhelimingly white, very few minorities, much less Black students.) I had 2 friends in the choir, one white, Jewish.

I asked him this really dumb question, well, isn’t it weird singing all these songs about Jesus? His answer: whatever…if anything, I like the songs about Joshua/Jericho, Go Down Moses, etc.

I know a lot of Blacks don’t care for Jews, the other way around, too, and I always thought it a terrible pity.

Well, where I come from Blacks and Jews will take bullets for each other. The rest? Feh, they can go jump off the cliff.
