Speaking of troublesome hispanics, did we ever decide whether the descendants of Portugese are hispanic?

My knowledge of history is:1. In the Roman empire, everything between France and the ocean was “Hispania”. 2. some missing bits in my knowledge when my ancestors mostly were trying to kill as many Spaniards as possible. 3. Now we have Portugal.

/has DNA from interesting places, but none hispanic

Portugal is on the Iberian peninsula, but they don’t speak Spanish.
