Women won’t want to secede: an abortion is now an out-of-state thing for many, secession would make it an out-of-country thing.

There was a time when Abortion was illegal in Germany and there were border controls to check women who had gone to the Netherlands (where it was legal then) for signs of a recent abortion.

I am sure that an “Independent Texas” would also impose similar regulations.
