I don’t the term “eligible” should really apply. I’m not one for signing on to “movements” of any kind. On the other hand, just cause their wrong don’t make you right. (Meaning, not you specifically, but anyone.) They’re idiots. But did the planners of this building not expect something like this?

And as the NYT noted way back in November 2009, the group was already using the space as a prayer space overflow when they decided to announce their intentions to build a community center and mosque on the location.

Although, in flitting around the internet today, I noticed there are some bloggers who are trying to make a case that yes, the planners did indeed hope for and expect this sort of outcry, thinking it would play into their needs, for some reason that makes no sense except to the folks who came up with that theory.
