Reagan gets way too much credit but I think the honest to God reason why conservatives love Reagan so much is he was a two time winner and a big winner at that. Hopefully we’ll start looking more critically at his administration’s legacy in the years to come. I firmly believe Reagan was a bad president and history will see that.

They love Reagan for the same reason they love Trump (even those who refuse to admit it): He made them feel good to be white, dumb, and racist. Ronnie played upon the same virulent, hateful, bigoted, forces that Trump did to get into office. But he was able to pull it off in an “aw, shucks” grandfatherly way that even “Reagan Democrats” could bullshit themselves into believing he “meant good.”
