Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. We awake this AM to word that Albany has solved this year’s fiscal mess.

Tax. Tax. Tax. And tax some more. The millionaires tax is going to be implemented - hiking takes of those making as little as $250k (which in the NYC metro area means many of those financial services workers who are already supporting the disproportionate burden of the state revenues).

Spending cuts are not real spending cuts since the feds are picking up the tab (and which means NYers will be back in the same mess next year, with no way to solve them unless you tax some more - and the fed wont have money to spread around as they are this year. Everyone is avoiding making the fiscally responsible actions - cutting unsupportable spending. And it will mean that the crisis will steamroll into next year in far worse shape than an already horrible situation this year.

At the same time, the WH is saying that they’re going to go green, which is to say back to the future since it’s been done before (most impressively and most recently by none other than President Bush). Key issue there is that Congress attempted to do something similar and failed miserably, even after buying carbon credits (your tax dollars at work!).
