It helps me keep perspective on the topic that I was raped as a kid, so thinking about it abstractly was a way of gaining control over the trauma.

And lots of hitting stuff until it broke.

That’s what amazes me. I don’t even have the personal experience, just seeing the effect it had on a very close friend has made it very difficult with me to deal with in any sort of rational manner. Someone made the mistake of suggesting she was promiscuous the other night. Her fianc had to drag me out of the bar in a choke hold, after he got me off the guys throat. Good on you for being able to maintain that perspective.
