I think the GOP quandry over Latinos is a bird-in-the-hand vs two-in.the-bush thing: can they risk alienating their core constituency over the chance of gaining some Hispanic votes?

And in addition, if they let these people into the party, they might start demanding other changes within the party, which nobody in the party wants.

So the choice is obvious: stick with the tried-and.true, don’t retreat, reload.

It may be bird-in-the-hand vs two-in-the-bush now, but it will become vs three-in-the-bush, four-in-the-bush, etc., plus half of all Hispanics are women, plus black people hate the Republican brand even more.

But they’ll still make the same choice, apparently.
