To answer my own question, the opponents probably realize at this point that the project will go ahead. They are still screeching and screaming mostly to define the “Ground Zero Mosque” as a centerpiece and prop for future hate campaigns, possibly for decades to come.

Wasn’t someone from the Right praying for them to start running new Willie Horton adverts?
