Ever since Barack Obama became President, I have felt it is important to keep an open mind about him. That is why I praised some of his early decisions such as keeping Gates as Secy. of Defense. I never believed he’d be heavy handed in his speech to the schoolkids. I mean, come on … it would have been very easy to see through it and the uproar would have been considerable. But by totally overreacting to this speech before the fact, Obama has allowed his most shrill opponents to “out” themselves in a way. By acting like scared fools, they compromised their credibility and in some cases, their integrity in a way that Obama can now use against them. And when it comes to skewering his political opponents, he has shown his willingness to use their words against them in the past. And now his opponents have handed him a weapon that he will club them to death with. And the media will help him get that done. So if people really want to act as responsible and effective members of the loyal opposition, they better grow up and stop following their most extreme elements.
