I’m of the impression that some of these types are just suffering from extreme sexual and/or emotional repression. If they just cut themselves loose for a month or two, maybe they’d mellow out and not be such total douchecanoes.

My impression is more that they’re a bunch of sad sacks who feel like there’s nothing in their lives under their control, so they want to be in control of their home, their wives, their children. Many of them are the same clowns who prefer to believe in the certainty of Biblical Creation, rather than the ‘uncertainty’ of Evolution, and Science in general.
