re: #529 Nimed

When it comes to soccer, I actually just keep my eye on Benfica (a Portuguese team, and my team since childhood). The ties in most if not all European leagues are somewhat penalized — 3 points for a win, 1 point for tie, 0 points for defeat. A win and a loss is better than 2 ties, so the system rewards teams who take chances.

Do you follow the Bundesliga?

Glad you sorted out the point system, but no I do not follow soccer at all, I am just rather surrounded by World Cup madness and trying to cope with best as I can.

I remember first coming to Germany in 1988, going out for a stroll in a suburb of Frankfurt on a Saturday afternoon and finding it a near-deserted ghost town, not even any traffic on the streets.

Then I ducked into a bar and found that the big Germany-Holland World Cup match was underway (Which the Dutch won)

I guess it is much the same in any American town during the Super Bowl or any Midwestern Town during the NCAA finals.
