Of course it’s not uncommon. Why on earth do you believe it is? There’s a very high percentage of bigotry against gays in the US, and gay people are quite common as well.

The number of children kicked out or running away from home specifically because they are gay and their parents can’t deal is large. I saw them first-hand when I worked with homeless kids.

Unfit in general, maybe not. But surely their disapproval, antipathy, et al. towards gays makes them not the best person to raise a gay child?
