And just so I’m crystal clear on this- I’ve never said that there shouldn’t be party involvement to deal with issues. I suggested the return of the Balanced Budget Amendment, and the response has been I should have faith in the election process. Sorry, but I don’t have that faith anymore. Congress needs more than a nudge to balance the budget besides an empty threat of removal from office. Why is it an empty threat? Because we don’t follow through. Should we get more involved? Absolutely. Still don’t believe it will constrain spending.
