Look, the Dems used a procedure that would prevent letting the GOP “poison-pill” the legislation at the cost of needing more votes. But whether they did that or not, nobody had any business voting against it. The Republican response to that maneuver was to - as a caucus - oppose the legislation. But I think that Rep. Weiner summed it up quite nicely just after King announced the GOP would oppose it as a group, and just before the vote was taken:
