McConnell: $4T Deficit-Reduction Deal Likely Off the Table

Ok, it looks like it’s not doomsday. The GOP is just backing away from its demands. I got worried there for a second.

They could have had a 4T deficit reduction, if they’d agree to some minor tax hikes. Instead, they’re settling for a much smaller deficit reduction.

In other words, deficit reduction is not anywhere near their top priority. Making sure rich people and multinational corporations keep every possible tax break, tax credit or subsidy is more important. Fuck the deficit, I want to depreciate my jet on a five-year schedule and it would be the height of tyranny to make me put it on a seven-year depreciation allowance. Revolutions have been fought over less.
