There was a recent article this spring or summer in the WaPo on him I think. Before my birth but it’s something that older people like my folks remember. But yeah being a polyglot, he could blend in better than most.

Speaking of folks who pulled a vanishing act, I’ve always wondered what happened to Frank Matthews, a 1960s drug kingpin who disappeared along with his girlfriend in 1973 - and with between $15 to $20 million dollars (about $80 to over $100 million when adjusted for inflation) - before he could be arrested. The authorities think he might still be alive, but where?
