Best of bad choices perhaps. The banks have mostly repaid their obligations (several because they couldn’t wait to get out from under the reg/obligations), but the portions dealing with homeowner assistance are going to cost the govt significantly. When first proposed, it was expected to help 2-3 million. It’s helped maybe 600,000 and the real estate market continues to be suffering all kinds of problems as various local markets are continuing to readjust to lower market conditions.
